Role Details

Our accounting practice offers services for business and personal tax preparation, bookkeeping, and payroll. We also assist in tax resolution matters. The role will overlap with tax planning and is a key pillar of the broader financial planner ecosystem. The Tax Associate would have strengths in some of these areas, and a willingness to develop and learn in others.

This is a mid-level to senior position, ideal for someone with around 5+ years experience.  We would expect this candidate to be able to work unsupervised and assist those at the Associate level

Outside of tax season, annual work would include:

• Bookkeeping (Quickbooks Online) including monthly reconciliation.
• Supporting payroll, including retirement account transactions.
• Review of tax returns for new clients to help identify problems and highlight planning topics.
• Supporting tax planning processes, such as periodic review of paystubs to help ensure clients are withholding the appropriate amount of tax and have enrolled in the correct payroll deferral elections.
• Training and development within the core competences of accounting and into the broader planning roles.
• Keeping client data updated and secure via our software systems.

Skill Details

Tax Preparation and Resolution experience (as lead), strong ability to identify planning opportunities from a tax perspective.
Understanding of GAAP and business accounting, including shareholder equity and basis.

• CPA or Enrolled Agent designation.
• Able to maintain reconciled books and keep clients on track for accurate business cashflow planning.
• Willingness to learn new skills and interact with planning projects.
• Comfortable with technology (Ideally ProConnect Tax Online, Quickbooks Online, Salesforce CRM and others)
